BKK Architects was founded in 2000 by Tim Black, Julian Kosloff and Simon Knott. We are a Melbourne based architectural practice with a track record for delivering internationally recognised design outcomes across a broad range of project types and scales. Our work is produced within a vibrant studio environment, merging large-scale practice capabilities and experience with the adaptability and client focus of a smaller practice.

BKK Architects’ practice culture is energetic and multi-faceted, cultivating a desire for intellectual challenge and problem solving. Intrinsic to our design methodology is the active engagement of our clients throughout every stage of a project’s development. Through this engagement we invest each project with a genuine sense of collaboration to ensure architectural outcomes that embody our clients’ values, aspirations and personality.

Residential architecture represents the core of BKK Architects’ work and over the past decade we have received significant acclaim in both national and international awards and publications. Our residential work ranges from affordable, environmentally sustainable design focused projects to high end private houses for diverse clients. Through these projects we have developed a design methodology that is focussed on the specific needs of each client and responsive to the specific qualities of each site.

In addition to single residences we are currently working on a range of multi-residential projects, including a multi-storey, mixed use building on the $300M McNab Avenue Footscray Development site for Grocon, and a multi-level residential development in Bendigo, currently in the town planning application phase.

BKK believe that the new landscape of social media offers exciting opportunities for communities to truly shape the way they wish to live. New modes of social networking have the capacity to bring together like-minded people searching for alternative models of housing and their delivery; an architecture that is designed to meet the needs of the individual and their community.

BKK have a particular interest in community focussed projects that are driven by the desire to challenge existing assumptions about contemporary patterns of living and to explore new opportunities for shared private and public space.

BKK are genuinely excited by the opportunity to be involved in a design process wherein projects are tailor made; driven by a shared vision and aspiration rather than generic development models.

BKK has extensive experience in delivering bespoke residential projects across a range of scales. BKK Architects' work in public place making, developed through several high profile master planning/urban design commissions, feeds directly into a residential design approach that is always mindful of the manner in which shared community spaces might enhance the private experience.

We believe that place-making is critical in shaping new communities, especially those built around common or shared interests. The BKK Creo Platea consortium brings a depth of knowledge in design and construction that is embedded in a design process that is open minded and lateral, managed within a structured process for delivery.
